I love osanshoo! For those of you that don’t know, osanshoo is one possible way to write the English phonetic equivalent for the Japanese word for the Japanese Giant Salamander. I love the creature, but I also love the word.

I’ve always struggled with how to showcase the art I’m working on—both the polished pieces and the rough iterations. Choosing what name to use as the “brand” was infinitely frustrating for me. I moved to Japan earlier this year, and I had heard of the giant salamander before, but my first introduction to the name osanshoo was at the Kyoto Aquarium. I loved the word so much that I instantly decided that that was it!
